High Vibe’n Yam Mousse.

Glowing Yam Mousse | The Fig's Heart.

Just a quick post today to tell you about my latest yam obsession. These are a staple for me all year round but especially so at this time of year. One of my favourite ways to eat them is by blending them into a smooth superfood mousse. This can be enjoyed as dessert, on top of oatmeal, for dipping your apple slices, and even topically as a homemade face mask!

Boil yam(s) in water.
Strain and let cool.
Blend with fresh pressed apple juice or your favourite nut milk.
Add in spices and super-foods. Blend until smooth.

My favourite combo right now is fresh apple juice, maca powder, cinnamon, and bee pollen. It makes the most high vibe’n, skin glow’n mousse you’ll ever taste! Get creative and add your favourite flavours. Yams are great at creating glowing skin. They are packed with Vitamin A, they help support the female endocrine system, and they even stimulate collagen production. Top this festive delight with fresh nutmeg and goji berries. Enjoy!

Anybody else loving yams right now? Favourite recipes?

  • You are so creative with your recipes! I need to get back into eating sweet potatoes (or yams…still not sure of the difference haha).

    • Thanks Catherine! Haha so true, I just pick the brightest orange ones and call them yams :)

      • Haha! I bought ‘sweet potatoes’ thinking they were the orange ones only to find out the insides were white! Maybe it’s a Canadian thing but they call the orange ones ‘yams’ instead of sweet potatoes so now I buy ‘yams’. So confusing :P

    • Haha! I bought ‘sweet potatoes’ thinking they were the orange ones only to find out the insides were white! Maybe it’s a Canadian thing but at the grocery store they call the orange ones ‘yams’ instead of sweet potatoes so now I buy ‘yams’. So confusing :P

      • Hahahah, I’ve definitely done the same thing. Such a disappointment when you cut into the white yam!

  • Totally making this RIGHT NOW. Yams/sweet potatoes are the best. I regularly take them with me as snacks – a small, cooked yam is just perfect for travel. : )

    XO,

    Catherine

    • Awesome! Thanks Catherine. I agree, they are the perfect little travel snack ;)

  • Sweet potatoes are a favourite of mine as well! They are so incredibly versatile. I love me a good ol’ sweet potato casserole!

    • Mmmm, so good! We always do a yam walnut casserole with Christmas dinner. It’s pretty much dessert haha :)

      • That sounds amazing! You’ll have to share the recipe! ;)

  • Been obsessed with yams lately! So delicious baked with some cumin + paprika and drizzled in olive oil :) I am soo going to try this, this looks amazing!

    • Ohhhh I can’t wait to try this! I usually eat them sweetened but I’m a huge cumin fan so that sounds delicious!! Thanks Naomi :)
