Nice To Meet You | Leahlani Skincare.

Leahlani Skincare | The Fig's Heart.

Last month I was very fortunate to spend the day with Leah Klasovsky of Leahlani Skincare. I’m still in awe from the whole afternoon. It was so nice being on Kauai and listening to Leah talk about her passion for skincare and how she turned a homemade face cream into a full skincare line that ships orders worldwide every week. Leah is a trained and certified Holistic Esthetician and she is such a kind and welcoming person. A huge inspiration to say the least! It was so lovely to spend the day with her and I’m very excited to share some of her story with you.

I heard about Leahlani Skincare from a few beauty gurus a couple of months ago and bookmarked the website immediately. I instantly connected with the intension behind this brand. Leah’s goal is for you “to fall in love with your skincare routine and to truly enjoy pampering yourself. To let the products evoke a sense of peace and tranquility in your everyday life, from the moment you open the jar.” Being on the beautiful island of Kauai where these products are created let me understand the sense of tranquility that Leah is talking about and she really does deliver this feeling through each and every product she makes. It’s something quite magical.

As soon as I found out my family was going to take a vacation to Hawaii, I knew I had to meet Leah. I met her at the Westin Resort in Princeville where she sells all of her products (and the stunning jewelry that her husband Oliver makes). If you’re visiting Kauai, make sure to drop by the Westin Princeville Resort or find her at the Hanalei Farmer’s Market on the weekend. From there we went to the St. Regis Hotel and sat on the most incredible balcony I’ve ever been on. Panoramic views of Hanalei Bay. I was a little nervous but managed to ask Leah a few questions I had for her…

Nice to meet you, Leahlani Skincare.

Leahlani Skincare | The Fig's Heart.

Have you always lived on Hawaii?
-No, I actually grew up in Los Angeles. My brother bought me a one way ticket to Kauai when I was 21 and I never looked back. I love it here. I met my husband here and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

How did Leahlani Skincare start?
-After completing the Holistic Esthetician program at Spa Luna on Maui, I started making a few products at home to help treat my cystic acne and heal my skin. The Aloe Day Dream was one of my first creations and I still use it every day. It’s amazing what a difference using natural and botanical based products made on my skin. I started giving my products to friends as gifts and selling them locally. I also included them in my practice and the brand really built itself. I continued making more products, testing them on family and friends, and now I’m selling a full skin care line to all different countries around the world. It still surprises me!

What are your favourite products that you’ve made?
Honey Love Microdermabrasion. Honey is my absolute favourite skincare ingredient in the whole wide world. It’s alive! The enzymes, the nutrients, the exfoliating properties, it’s an amazing product with so many benefits for each and every skin type. This is one of my best sellers and the only product I use to wash my face.
-The Mermaid Mask. This stuff is real! It’s made of unique spirulina from right here in Hawaii. This mask has so much nutrition and detoxification properties, it’s the ultimate skin food.
-The Champagne Serum. They actually use this serum during the Whole Body Treatment at the spa in the hotel here (St. Regis). I also used this serum a lot when I was giving facials. I think it’s so important to take some time for yourself. Start by placing this serum on your bed side table and apply a couple of drops to your face and neck before you go to sleep. You will begin to enjoy this ritual so much that it will become a priority. (I must add, this serum is divine.)

Do you think the natural skincare and beauty industry is growing?
-Absolutely! I’ve noticed that more and more big name brands are taking “stuff” out of their products and sticking to the basics. Marketing is really geared towards highlighting products with natural and superfood ingredients. Consumers are becoming more conscious about what they put on their skin and starting to notice the difference it makes. It’s definitely becoming more of a demand world wide and I think this will continue to expand into the future.

What do you see for Leahlani Skincare in the future?
-I’m currently working on new branding and a new website for Leahlani Skincare. I’m also excited to introduce a few new products to the line. I would love to start working with some active ingredients like hyaluronic acid (!!!) and retinol to enhance the benefits of my products. (I am so excited for this Leah!)

What inspirers you?
-Leah points to the view of Hanalei Bay and I’m surprised again by the beauty of this place. There are so many talented and artistic people on this island. I love the calmness of the surroundings here and the way it allows me to relax. I really want to take that feeling and bottle it up and share it with everyone who uses my products.

Nice to meet you, Leahlani Skincare.

I know what you’re thinking…Where do I start? I want to try it all! I know how you feel, every time I read the ingredient list for one of her products I want to place it straight into my online shopping cart. I’ll be writing more detailed posts on individual products over the next few months so you can learn more about the wonderful benefits of natural ingredients (see my Mermaid Mask review). There is really so much to learn, I’m having a lot of fun with these products and my skin is so happy. Leah’s favourites (mentioned above) are all good products to start with. I would also suggest getting a Lavender Spritzer to put in your purse/car/desk/bathroom and the Supreme Eye Cream if you’re new to eye creams or looking for one of good quality. This has made a visible difference to the skin under my eyes in the last month and I’m really impressed.

Please check out Leah’s website (leahlaniskincare.com) and if you’re in the market for a new skincare product I highly recommend anything and everything from this line. There is something for every skin type, I know you will love it and your face will glow with aloha no matter where you are in the world.

You can also follow Leah’s beautiful feed on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter.
