Holiday Gift Guide 2013.

Hello and Happy December!

I’m a little late on the gift guide posting (unless you are like me and haven’t finished all your shopping yet!). There have been so many great holiday gift guides posted around the internet this year so I had to get in on that and post one myself. This is a stressful time of year for a lot of people and Christmas shopping can often be a great cause of this. Try focusing more on the excitement of sharing with the people you care about rather than simply checking names off a list as quick as possible to avoid shopping mall parking lots. Whether you’re exchanging gifts, sharing a home-made meal, or simply visiting a few faces you haven’t seen all year, remember that the holiday season is so much more than buying gifts. For those of you who are buying gifts this year, you all know how good it feels to give somebody you care about something you know they’ll really love. The feeling of giving is often more exciting than the feeling of receiving (If you can manage to keep the gift a surprise until Christmas without telling them…I often have issues with this). If you need some help playing santa this year, set aside a few minutes, turn on a holiday mixed tape, and enjoy browsing through the suggestions below. Get excited and don’t let the pressure of holiday gift giving take away from the joy. Feel free to leave comments, other gift suggestions, etc. Happy holiday shopping!

Club Monaco Angora Hat.

The perfect winter toque. I’ve never been a fan of toques in the past because I find they either look too masculine or too childish. However, this angora toque from Club Monaco is the ultimate chic and feminine winter accessory. It comes in a soft grey, wild yam, or classic black. While you’re there, also check out the bonnie bracelet in Navy for a great little stocking stuffer.

Diptyque Paris Candles.

Simpatico Hobnail Candle.

Good quality candles are the type of gift most people don’t splurge on for themselves, but love having in their home. Diptyque Paris makes lovely candles with the most beautiful scents. They seem to be really popular right now but they are a little pricey! The hobnail candle in creme fresh from Anthropologie is another nice one. You may be able to find a local source that hand pours beeswax or soy candles. There are usually a few vendors at Christmas markets/etc. that sell their own candles in great holiday scents like gingerbread, walnut, or sweet vanilla.

Nail polish is an easy crowd pleaser. Butter London has amazing shades that are non-toxic and free of harmful ingredients found in most nail polishes. I love their Sugar & Spice Holiday Duo and The Black Knight as holiday party shades. If you’re looking for a more neutral shade, Yummy Mummy is perfect for any skin tone so it’s a great gift for someone you may not know very well.

Branche Sage Silk Sleep Masque.

The Branché silk eye masque would make the most luxurious gift. It’s oversized design is gentle and comfortable to sleep in and it’s made from 100% silk with the inner side being non-dyed, non-bleached. This would be a great gift for someone who does a lot of travelling!

bkr glass water bottles.

You can’t go wrong with the glass water bottle by Bkr. It’s BPA free, carries 500ml of water, and is covered in a removable silicone sleeve. It’s easy to carry around or stick in your bag/purse and has a small top that’s perfect to drink from when you’re on the go! I love the Coco shade, it’s so chic and sophisticated. Who knew having a water bottle could be so stylish? Plus, the company gives back a portion of the proceeds to three great non-profit organizations. Win-win!

These ribbon hair-ties are a must have. They are snag-free and so comfortable, plus they can also be worn on the wrist as a bracelet if you want to put your hair down. They look like simple little pieces of elastic but when you wrap them around your hair it gives the illusion that you’ve wrapped a perfect little ribbon around your pony tail.

J Crew Cashmere.

The Laundress.

A classic cashmere scarf is the ultimate winter essential. This chunky knit design by J-Crew is gorgeous. A lovely addition to this would be the wool & cashmere care set by Laundress. This cedar extract formula is designed to protect your favourite pieces and keep the dry cleaning costs down.

The chubby stick by Clinique is a great little gift for woman of all ages. These moisturizing lip colours are easy to apply and come in colours for any occasion. For more beauty product ideas, check out my all-time favourites here.

Owen & Fred custom leather luggage tags.

Custom leather luggage tags for the travelling man. These tags by Owen and Fred are manly, stylish, and great quality.

AHeirloom muddler.

Whisky stones by Teroforma.

A monogramed cocktail muddler by AHeirloom made of walnut or maple and whiskey stones with a new set of tumblers from Teroforma would be the ultimate gift for the night-time entertainer.

stubble and 'stash products.

A face moisturizer & beard conditioner set by Stubble & ‘Stash to hydrate and groom his face in these cold months.

A 32 GB USB stick for the tech guy. It’s waterproof, antimagnetic, and fits perfectly on his key chain!

A collection of sandwich enhancers for the foodie like mustard from Meat & Bread, jalapeño peanut butter from Mouth, and bacon mayonnaise from Empire. Of course he will need some wooden sandwich boards to serve these creations on.

bowtie A classic bow-tie is a great gift that can be enjoyed for many years.

The camera lens cup for your hipster photographer brother.

And just for fun, the Icelandic Beard Cap!

The ever-popular Aveda hand and foot relief cream is something anybody on your list would enjoy. The cooling sensation of the foot cream and the silky texture of the hand cream is a perfect way to relax after this busy season.

rifle paper co.

A nice notebook is a great way to start the new year. Rifle Paper Co. makes great stationary and I love these little pocket notebooks. They are great for making lists or simply keeping in your bag incase you need to jot something down. Sugar Paper also makes pretty notebooks that are conveniently kept closed with an elastic.

Holiday macarons. In my opinion, macarons are the perfect gift for any day of the year. Check your local french bakery or pâtisserie to see what christmas flavours they offer.

Silk Road Tea Co.

Everyone enjoys a good cup of tea or coffee. Pick out a personalized blend to fill your loved ones stockings with. Try out some limited edition holiday flavours like the Snow Apple Spice black tea by Silk Road.

These faux fur throws are so cozy and great to add to the couch or the guest bedroom over the holidays.

A mini mortar and pestle is the perfect surprise for someone who likes to play around in the kitchen. Adding freshly ground herbs to any recipe may be the simplest way to improve your cooking!

wine tote

Wrap up a bottle of their favourite wine in a cute little wine tote with the corkcicle this holiday to make any wine-o happy. This insulated tote is perfect for a picnic or keeping your wine cool on the way to a party and the corkcicle will keep it cool once you’ve arrived.

Homemade baked goods are always a nice added touch. Check out these cardamom-ginger molasses cookies, these eggnog florentines (!!!???!!!!), and these cranberry bliss bars (the raw/vegan version).

A christmas tradition in many families, wool socks. I love these pair by Roots.

A few last minute ideas: magazines, lottery tickets, lip balm, or a nice christmas ornament.
