The Royal Hawaiian was most definitely my favourite spot along Waikiki Beach. No, unfortunately I did not stay here for my trip. I wish. But I did spend some time admiring the grounds of this historic hotel also known as The Pink Palace.
I wanted to visit this hotel even before I got to Hawaii. I don’t know if it was the colour that initially got my attention, but something about the design and the architecture made me instantly attached. I ended up going on a two hour history tour of the building and falling even more in love with it than I thought. The architecture is absolutely stunning. It has a very distinct Moroccan theme and is surrounded by a tropical jungle of plants. The large open floor plan brings you right back to the day it opened in 1927 and you feel like royalty the moment you walk in the front entrance. Sometimes I feel like I really missed out on a good era.
The hotel also has a very well known spa tucked away in it’s gardens. I wanted to experience a traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage while I was there, and what better place than this…
I definitely felt like a princess for the morning. I won’t forget that day for a long time. Check out my full review of the spa here. The last part of the hotel I will show you is the waterfront. The pink theme of the Royal Hawaiian carries all the way out to the beach!
