Happy Friday! How are you guys doing? It’s been a busy week around here so I just have a quick post today. I made a new smoothie this morning and thought I would share it (full recipe below). Here’s a little run-down on a few of the ingredients:
Mango– a great source of beta-carotenes which are so important for the health of the skin. Beta-carotenes are turned into Vitamin A in the body and help reverse skin damage and improve the texture of your skin. They promote an even skin tone with a bright complexion. Love me my orange/yellow fruits and veggies!
Maca– a natural adaptogen. Adaptogens balance and stabilize the body’s glandular-hormonal system, nervous system, and cardiovascular system. Rather than addressing a specific symptom, adaptogens improve the overall adaptability of the whole body to challenging situations and stress. Maca is also known to increase energy and endurance, support healthy hormone production, and boost libido. Having a bad week? Treat yourself to some maca chocolate ;)
Brazil Nuts– rich in selenium, healthy fats, protein, and fiber. Selenium is an important mineral responsible for thyroid health, DNA synthesis, and antioxidant protection. Consuming a natural source of selenium daily is said to help prevent skin cancer and reduce the severity of acne.
1/2 organic banana
1 cup frozen mango
1-2 tbsp brazil nut butter
1 tsp maca powder
1 tsp bee pollen
1 cup almond milk
Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Use more/less
almond milk depending on the consistency you like.
Have a lovely weekend! x
