Like most of the smoothies I create, the Pumpkin Spice Smoothie was designed with glowing skin in mind. With Fall in full swing, pumpkin flavoured drinks and desserts are popping up everywhere. I wanted to create something delicious and festive that’s packed full of skin boosting ingredients. Especially now that the weather is getting colder, it’s important to give your skin as much nourishment as possible. Here are a few reasons to whip together this smoothie for Fall:
PUMPKIN is rich in potassium and Vitamins A, C, and E. These three vitamins boost the immune system and encourage collagen production to help the skin maintain is elasticity and glow! Pumpkin is also full of beta-carotenes (the antioxidant that gives fruit and vegetables that bright orange/yellow colour). Beta-carotenes are turned into Vitamin A in the body and help reverse skin damage and improve the texture of your skin.
CAULIFLOWER contains the second highest amount of glucosinolates, after broccoli. Glucosinolates are the compounds that give cauliflower its pungent smell and flavor. Glucosinolates activate the body’s detoxification system and help rid the body of unwanted toxins. Cauliflower is also very high in vitamin C which promotes good skin health.
MANGOES are another great source of beta-carotenes (Vitamin A) which is so important for the health of the skin. It promotes an even skin tone with a brighter complexion and relieves clogged pores that lead to acne.
CINNAMON is a beautiful antioxidant that works to balance out several functions in the body. It will help to calm your racing mind and allow your skin some time to rest.
Let me know if you try it out, enjoy!
