The Mermaid Mask by Leahlani Skincare is truly superfood for your skin. A glass of green juice simply doesn’t cut it anymore, you won’t believe how much green goodness is packed into this face mask! Leah, the founder and creator of Leahlani Skincare, has collected some of the most soothing and detoxifying ingredients and beautifully blended them together to create an elixir for your skin. “Your face will drink this up and radiate from within”. The formula is made by hand with all natural ingredients on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai and is suitable for all skin types (including acne prone).
I was so lucky to spend the day on Kauai with Leah last month and learn more about her skincare line. I will be sharing a more detailed post on this soon, and I will continue to share reviews on other individual items from her line throughout the next few months. I’m really excited to start by telling you about the Mermaid Mask. First of all, the name itself is so exotic. I love it. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to feel like a mermaid 2-3 times a week? Secondly, the scent is so heavenly. It will naturally relax your whole body and mind and leave you hooked after the first use. Lastly, the ingredients are very unique and absolutely packed full of nutrients. Every little cell on your face will be smiling. Here’s a list of the key ingredients Leah chose to include in this mask and why she chose them:
Raw Organic Hawaiian Honey– Leah’s all time favourite ingredient. Honey works as an antibacterial because it contains flavanoids and antioxidants. This is great for clearing up oily and acne prone skin. Many products that target this skin type are too harsh for sensitive or dry skin types, but not honey. It’s also very soothing and hydrating because it’s a natural humectant (draws moisture to the skin and locks it there). The perfect base for this mask.
Pure Organic Hawaiian Spirulina– I was so excited to read the second ingredient of the mask. Spirulina is one of the worlds most nutrient dense super foods. It’s full of protein, iron, amino acids, and most known antioxidants. It helps with premature aging, acne, redness, uneven skin tone, and dryness. Basically everything!
Chlorella– Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, this green superfood improves elasticity of the skin by detoxifying the upper layer of cells.
Luminous Algae– A micro algae that helps to restore the glow of youthful skin through enhanced cellular energy, improved vitality, and increased cellular turnover.
Pure Silken French Green Clay– Just the sound of this ingredient is luxurious. French green clay has enormous absorbent powers that will draw toxic substances and impurities from the skin. It also tones and stimulates the skin which brings fresh blood to damaged skin cells and leaves you with a radiant complexion.
Sea Buckthorn– A powerful fruit high in vitamins A, C and E. It helps with cellular regeneration and heals wounds (including scarring and acne). It promotes naturally radiant and glowing skin.
15 other beautiful botanicals including: ylang-ylang, white lotus, Roman chamomile, lavender, rose, geranium, orange, and coriander. Need I say more?
This was the product I was most excited to try by Leahlani Skincare and I can now say it’s quite possibly my favourite face mask of all time. My skin feels hydrated, plumped, and fresh after each use. It really gives my face a healthy glow and makes me feel more confident on my no-makeup days. Give the jar a good stir to activate all the ingredients and mix them together. In cooler climates the honey might crystallize slightly so make sure to give it a good stir to soften the formula. This will allow for a smooth application. Apply all over face and leave for 5-15 minutes. The mask will not dry on your face. Gently rinse with cool water and pat dry. Leah’s tip: to enhance the benefits of the mask, exfoliate before applying the mask and moisturize with a good serum afterwards.
This little jar of liquid sunshine is a must have! Treat your skin with the Mermaid Mask or any other one of Leah’s treasures on her website!
