Nūdus Handcrafted-Organic-Ayurvedic Lipsticks.

The Fig's Heart - Nūdus Lipstick.

Nūdus has set the bar high for luxury all-natural lipsticks. They are certified organic and handcrafted in Australia using ancient Ayurvedic colours and extracts to create their shade range.  I can’t stop talking about them to everyone I know, I’m completely in love.

After reading through their website to learn more about the ingredients they use, I could instantly see the love and passion put into these lipsticks. “A superior blend of 27 active naturals incorporating super foods, antioxidants, vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K, essential fatty acids and high-end anti-aging ingredients to keep your lips soft.” These lipsticks are handcrafted which means they are made in small batches without any machinery to ensure that every step of the process is completed carefully with the highest level of freshness and quality.

What really attracted me is the way they create their shade range. There are currently ten shades in their collection all created with flowers, fruits, herbs, minerals, and organic cold pressed oils including pumpkin, kiwi fruit, raspberry, pomegranate, argan and mooring. Pretty impressive. “Each colour extract has a dual purpose of bioactivity and therapeutic function. These color extracts have been chosen on the basis of their properties promoting preventative healthcare.” A pink lipstick isn’t just a pink lipstick, it’s a specific shade created by the earth to provide you with the strength and confidence you need to get through that tough time in your life.

Swatches from left to right above: SurvivorFairy Tales, & Dirty Diana. I love how fresh and alive these colours look. They have a very faint smell of earthy-floral goodness, but nothing noticeable.

The formula is highly pigmented, you only need one coat to get full colour. I’ve had these lipsticks for a few weeks now and I’ve had a good chance to wear them in different situations and environments. I usually last for about 2-4 hours with lipstick on before my lips start to get a little irritated and I start feeling uncomfortable and self conscious about what’s happening on my face. Are my lips flaking? Is the colour bleeding? Do I look like a clown? I put on Survivor last week before a 5 hour shift and it lasted the whole way through without bleeding or drying out my lips! I didn’t even realize I hadn’t taken my lipstick off until the very end of the night when I was going to wash my face. That says it all for me. The formula feels so natural on my lips I can wear it all day and I was shocked that it didn’t smudge or feather. The colour will transfer though if you’re eating/drinking so you might have to reapply after a meal and be careful when you’re kissing. I’ve worn all three of the shades above without a lip liner and they have stayed in place all day. Genius.

The chic white packaging of these lipsticks adds another level of luxury. It’s sturdy and well made and the lid clicks into place to protect the product in your purse. I’m a sucker for minimalist design and Nūdus has done a beautiful job of that. The bullets are a standard 4oz size and even though they are handcrafted they hold a perfect shape for application.

Survivor: A cool toned bright pink to get you through anything. Absolutely stunning, what more could you ask for? This shade is near and dear to my heart, reminding me of breast cancer awareness and how hard my Mom and so many others fought.

Fairy Tales: A simple and flirty nude/coral. I love this for an everyday colour.

Dirty Diana: The name itself was enough to get me to pick this smouldering merlot red. One of my favourite Michael Jackson songs and a shade that makes me feel bold, confident, and edgy. Easily my favourite of the bunch.
